LU fifth in poll

The Blue Tigers, who finished 2-7 last year and 1-1 against Great Lakes Conference opponents, totaled 11 points in the poll.
Three schools received first-place votes in the poll. Tiffin College of Tiffin, Ohio (6-5, 1-1), finished atop the rankings, getting two first-place votes and totaling 26 points. St. Joseph's College of Rensselaer, Ind. (7-4, 3-0), also had two first-place nods and had 25 points.
Missouri-Rolla (7-4, 0-1) received one first-place vote and had 24 points. Kentucky Wesleyan College (3-7, 0-0) was fourth with 14 points, while Central State of Ohio (1-5, 0-2) was sixth with five points.
Lincoln opens the 2006 season at home against Lane College on Saturday, Aug. 26. Game time is 2 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
